Sylvester Stallone has been in a lot of action movies. From playing the boxing icon Rocky Balboa to being the ruthless hand of the law, Judge Dredd, the Italian actor is a legend in the entertainment industry. But since Stallone is now 72 years old, the actor previously said he can’t do action films anymore. So it comes with great surprise that the “Rocky” actor is reprising his role as John Rambo in “Rambo 5.”
The franchise has been quite the global hit, earning millions of dollars after each film was released. The latest hit theaters 10 years ago, where Rambo rescued a group of missionaries that were captured by a brutal Burmese army. Now, “Rambo 5” is currently in development and the troubled Vietnam war veteran will come out of retirement once again to bring justice to those who deserve it, IBTimes reported.
This time, the lethal soldier is poised to take on a Mexican cartel called El Corazon. The story of “Rambo 5” starts off when the cartel kidnaps a group of local girls for sex trafficking.
After hearing about the incident, Rambo decides to take matters into his own hands and take on the cartel himself. But he will not be alone. “Rambo 5” will have the soldier work in tandem with a Latina soldier turned journalist named Carmen Delgado. It’s not yet known who will play Delgado but Jessica Vargas is reportedly trying to land the role.
The character is written to be a straightforward individual who has been following the kidnapping case after she got wind of it. Delgado is also quite knowledgeable in how the cartel operates and wants vengeance from the group as her sister had been a victim of the gang a year before. With Rambo needing all the information he can get and Delgado requiring someone of considerable lethal skills, the two team up in “Rambo 5” to rescue the girls.
And since the film will feature a lot of action scenes, Sylvester Stallone has hit the gym once again to try and be in shape for “Rambo 5.” In this Instagram post, the Italian actor can be seen flipping over a 250-pound tire several times, an impressive feat given Stallone’s age. “Rambo 5” is set to hit theaters in the fall of 2019.
