The America’s Road Team is a national public outreach program dedicated to advocating highway safety and promoting the trucking industry. Road Team Captains travel the country engaging with motorists, news media and public officials to share the industry’s message of “safety, essentiality and sustainability.” Captains serve for two-years and are selected based on their exceptional driving skills, exemplary safety records and passion for trucking advocacy.
“We could not imagine a better ambassador for Reddaway, and our industry at large, than Jeffrey Payne,” said T.J. O’Connor, Reddaway President. “His dedication to safety and professionalism embodies our mission at Reddaway. We are extremely proud to call him a part of our team. America’s Road Team serves a vital role for our industry, and we are certain that Jeff will thrive as a Captain.”
Payne has been driving professionally for 24 years and has spent the last 23 years with Reddaway. He currently operates as a city driver out of the Reddaway Cedar City/Saint George, Utah service center. He has remained accident-free for the entirety of his career and has logged over 2.5 million miles during this span.
Over the past 20 years, Payne has also accumulated a wealth of awards as a competitor in state and National Truck Driving Championships (NTDC). He has taken first place at the Utah State TDC 13 individual times and was named Utah State Grand Champion in both 2003 and 2014. In 2014, Payne also received the prestigious Neill Darmstadter Professional Excellence Award which recognizes the NTDC competitor judged to best exemplify the characteristics of a professional truck driver. Payne also placed first in the Twins category at the NTDC in 2011.
“Jeff Payne represented Reddaway in the most professional manner during the selection process,” said Russ Simpson, 2015-2016 America’s Road Team Captain and professional driver for Reddaway’s sister company, Holland. “I am proud to call him a colleague and a friend.”
America’s Road Team was founded in 1986 and continues with the support of Volvo Trucks.
