JOHNS CREEK, Ga., March 02, 2018 -- Saia, Inc. (NASDAQ:SAIA) is pleased to announce that Saia LTL Freight has been presented with the 2017 Grayslake Economic Development Award for its contributions to the community. Saia opened a state-of-the-art cross-dock facility near the village in 2016.
According to the Grayslake Economic Development Committee, Saia has been a great asset to the area and has helped spur further economic development in the community. The terminal has also been recognized with the 2017 Chicago Builders Congress Award of Merit, Industrial Construction, for the building’s design and the site’s development. Since 1956, the Merit Awards have celebrated achievements in the building industry by singling out exceptional projects in the greater Chicago area.
The standalone terminal is situated on over 30 acres and features an expansive dock with 100 doors, administrative space, a maintenance shop, and a fueling station. It is located on South Midlothian Road in the Mundelein/Grayslake area and provides 70,000 square feet of combined work space. Ancillary improvements to the site include an automated snow scraper and a truck scale. Through this location, Saia employs nearly 100 people from the area including account executives, office personnel, drivers, dockworkers, and mechanics.
