'Scandal' Season 5 Episode 13 Recap: Another problem for Fitz

The hit TV series just keeps getting better and better as the stakes just keeps getting higher. In this week's episode, the show circled around the president's new dating game that Abby made for him. Now let us see if it was effective or not. Here is a recap of this week's episode entitled "The Fish Rots From the Head".

The episode started wtih Abby explaining to President Fitz how her newly invented dating style works. Just like rock stars pick out groupies and have them delivered to their hotel rooms by flunkies, Fitz is blinding journalists and other high-powered women with his smile and having them delivered to the residence – but first, the "date" must surrender her cell phone, sign a nondisclosure agreement and leave by the service elevator.

Little did Abby (and the president) knew that this tomcatting of Fitz will backfire. One of two "hookers" who was purchased that evening was found dead in the middle of the hotel room's floor. INvestigations were made discreetly and the agents said she died of a heroin overdose, and Olivia Pope & Associates get busy cleaning it up, led by Quinn (Katie Lowes).

Marcus (Cornellius Smith Jr), on the other hand, believes otherwise and his insticts were right. She didn't die of an overdose, she was murdered by the agents. They tried to not pay for her services, got in a fight with her, and when she got hurt and started bleeding, they shot her up to cover it up.

Meanwhile, Mellie is thinking of ways to convince her ex-husband not to endorse his vice president Susan Ross to become president. She has taken this advice from Olivia and the two seemed to be getting along more this days.

And speaking of Olivia, when she heard about the incident with the Special Agents and a hooker, Olivia then accused Fitz of being reckless, negligent, selfish and not setting a good example for his agents or his son. This became the wake up call that Fitz needed and became one of his ways to show to his vice president Susan that he is the man she wants to be endorsed by.

Right after this talk, Fitz brings Susan to his office and tells her to "never lie to the American people again" and says that he's going to do whatever he can to earn her respect and make her want his endorsement. He starts off by firing the security agents involved in the hotel party, and holds a press conference about that night.

So it would seem that Mellie failed in convincing his ex husband to not endorse Susan Ross.
