“Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor” is the surprise hit by developer Monolith that blindsided practically everyone with how good it is when it launched. While its sequel has been rumored for quite some time, there haven’t been any concrete details related to the project. This changed recently when an accidental posting by Target leaked the game’s title.
Leaks via “accidental” listings are becoming quite common in the video game industry, of late. Based on the posting by Target, which has since been removed, the next video game set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy universe is “Middle Earth: Shadow of War.” Although it was only up for a brief window of time, it was enough for NeoGaf member DeathByBacklog to download photos and post them on the forum.
The photos feature what seems to be two front covers for the PlayStation 4 versions of the original copy and the Gold Edition. The product description of the game also reads "Go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses and dominate Mordor from within," which indicates that the sequel will maintain the signature stealth and assassination combat that the first is known for.
It would seem that the so-called “Nemesis” feature of the first game is also coming back for the second game in all versions. As for the “Gold Edition,” some of the bonus content include the story expansion packs that will be coming as a DLC for the normal version, along with some new abilities and another playable character, Destructoid reports.
For those who like the “Nemesis” feature, the “Gold Edition” even comes with some exclusive content pertaining to that aspect in the form of an Orc Fortress. According to the listing, the game will be coming out on August 22 this year. Its price will be $60 for the standard version while the “Gold Edition” will cost $100. Although it doesn’t mention a PC release, the last game did come out on the platform, so the sequel should be the same.
