The time when “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2 was announced could hold some clues about its specific release date window. One possibility is that the second season has been in production for a while when it was announced this month, making it possible for new episodes to be released within the first half of 2020.
On the other hand, the announcement this month could also mean that the production of “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2 has just started. And that makes a release date in the first half of 2020 impossible. In this case, new episodes are likely coming out at a mid to late summer or fall release date windows.
The successful first season was produced by the popular studio, Madhouse. The movie, on the other hand, was produced by 8Bit. Now, for “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2, it was confirmed that the movie producer would be taking over the series production.
Aside from 8Bit, other people attached to the anime film will also return to work on “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2, including director Risako Yoshida. The cast is also practically unchanged, especially for main characters Tatsuya Shiba (Yuichi Nakamura), Miyuki Shiba (Saori Hayami), and Angelina Kudou Shields (Yoko Hikasa).

The anime will continue to base its plot from the original light novel series created by Tsutomu Sato, who reiterated that “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2 will cover the Visitor arc. In the novel, this arc covered volumes 9 to 11.
This is a clear indication that “The Irregular At Magic High School” season 2 will have fewer episodes than season 1 that covered volumes 1 to 7. The light novel has a total of 30 chapters as of this writing, and that could mean the anime series might even have more installments beyond the second season.
