With the various lockdowns and quarantines imposed by governments worldwide to stop the coronavirus pandemic, billions of people are now trying to find ways to keep boredom at bay. Here are some of the most engaging mobile games available right now to keep people entertained.
‘Dots’ – Free for both iOS and Android
For people who want to keep it simple yet engaging, “Dots” might be the way to go. There are 36 squares arranged into rows and columns of six. The goal is simply to connect the dots by drawing a line between dots of the same color.
Players can connect dots up, down or sideways but connecting them diagonally is not allowed. Players earn more points the more dots they connect. While the rule is simple, the game becomes progressively harder as more colors are added into the board as the game progresses until a point where there’s no possible move is reached.
The best part is that the game is free to download. “Dots” is also Vox’s top free mobile game recommendation.
‘Threes’ – Free for both iOS and Android
Another free mobile game that players can sink their teeth into while on quarantine is “Threes.” This is a mobile puzzle game launched in 2014 where players have to combine cards to result in a new card that is also a multiple of three but with a higher value.
The game ends when players achieve the goal, which is to reach the highest possible value of 6,144. It’s a rare game combining both math and puzzle that just has the right combination of fun and challenge.
‘Scrabble Go’ – Free for both Android and iOS
They say social distancing does not have to mean people will have to be socially distant. The game “Scrabble Go” proves that it can be done, as it’s basically a multiplayer scrabble game online.
Players take turns in coming up with a word. But there’s also a single-player mode too in case players want to sharpen their skills with practice.
‘Plague, Inc.’ – Free for Android but costs 99 cents for iOS
Playing “Plague, Inc.” might seem a bit uncomfortable at first considering that there’s a real pandemic spreading across the globe right now. But once players get over this initial stage of uneasiness, they’ll find the title highly entertaining and challenging at the same time.
Gamers play as a pathogen whose sole goal is to infect as many as it can. While the goal seems simple, it’s a bit more challenging as it sounds. The game is free for Android devices but will cost only 99 cents for iOS users.
