“Toy Story 4” is not only breaking the official box office in its first-week theater release. It is also named as one of the top 10 most pirated movies via torrent downloads in the 26th week of the year.
TorrentFreak reports, based on BitTorrent downloads, that the blockbuster Disney Pixar animated film is one of the three newbies in the top 10 list of most pirated movies as of June 24. The movie has just been released on Friday, June 21 and, unfortunately, an HDCam rip of the movie has already been uploaded to several torrent sites.
This also means that in a matter of roughly three days, “Toy Story 4’s” pirated copy became the top 5 most downloaded in one of the most popular torrent platforms. Of course, this news is not welcomed by Disney Pixar and the Hollywood filmmaking business. But it is worth noting that “Toy Story 4” ended up as the no. 1 in the box office on its opening week. Box Office Mojo reports that, as of this writing, the movie is close to hitting the $280 million mark in gross sales worldwide. That number is expected to go up as the movie stays in theater for the next few weeks. The movie reportedly had a production budget of $200 million.
Aside from “Toy Story 4,” BitTorrent’s top 10 list also welcomed two other titles namely the superhero horror film “Brightburn” and the Sylvester Stallone-led action thriller “Escape Plan: The Extractors. The said movies landed on the second and third spot on the list, respectively.
Meanwhile, Disney’s live-action “Dumbo” directed by Tim Burton is keeping the no. 1 spot of the most torrent downloads in the previous week. Other familiar titles on the list are “Captain Marvel,” “Pokémon Detective Pikachu,” “Us,” HDCam rip of “Avengers: Endgame,” “Glass,” and Netflix’s “Murder Mystery.”
