Toyota Motor Corp’s global production for November rose 1.5 percent from a year earlier to a record high of 833,104 vehicles for that month marking an increase for the fourth straight month as the supply issue had eased.
With North American production rising by 5.9 percent, the automaker's output in other countries increased by 3.8 percent to 566,930, a record number for November. However, a lack of parts caused an 11.1 percent decrease in production in China.
Meanwhile, Toyota's domestic output shrank by 3.3 percent to 266,174 units because persistent semiconductor shortages dampened the production of new units, compared with a 2.0 percent increase to 726,648 of the eight automakers.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in China and other factors, the combined global production of eight major Japanese automakers—including Toyota—fell by 4.3 percent to 2.1 million cars.
Global sales of the eight Japanese automakers dropped 3.6 percent to 1.89 million units last month from a year earlier.
