Ukrainian Drone Attacks Hit Russian Regions, Injuring at Least 12

A series of Ukrainian drone attacks struck several Russian regions on Friday morning, leaving at least one person dead and more than a dozen injured while damaging industrial sites, homes and vehicles, according to Russian regional officials.

In Russia’s Ulyanovsk region, eight people, including a child, were injured in a drone strike, Governor Alexei Russkikh said in a Telegram post. He said both industrial and civilian infrastructure sustained damage but provided no further details on the facilities affected or the severity of the injuries.

The attacks also reached Russia’s Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine and has repeatedly reported cross-border drone strikes during the war. Regional authorities said a Ukrainian drone hit a truck overnight, killing one civilian and wounding another.

Farther north, Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev said Russian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 88 drones over the regional capital and at least six surrounding districts overnight.

Four people were injured in the Voronezh region, while residential properties, vehicles and industrial facilities were damaged, according to Gusev. Authorities did not immediately provide an estimate of the financial damage caused by the strikes.

Russia’s Perm region also came under what Governor Dmitry Makhonin described as a “massive” drone attack. Makhonin said air defense units and mobile fire groups were working to repel the incoming drones.

An industrial facility in Perm was targeted during the attack, he said, although preliminary information indicated there were no casualties. Emergency crews were dispatched to the site to assess the damage and respond to the incident.

The reported strikes highlight the expanding geographical reach of Ukrainian drone operations inside Russia, with attacks targeting areas well beyond regions bordering Ukraine.

The reports from Ulyanovsk, Belgorod, Voronezh and Perm were based on statements from Russian regional authorities. Reuters said it was unable to independently verify the officials’ accounts of the attacks, casualties or damage.
