Uniswap has announced the beta release of its Android Wallet app on Google Play, widening its user base beyond the iOS ecosystem.

Uniswap, a known decentralized crypto exchange, announced the release of the Android digital waller's beta version on Thursday, Oct. 12. This will make Uniswap available to everyone who uses the Android operating system. As per CoinTelegraph, Uniswap was only available on iOS mobile devices and PCs before the announcement of the Android Wallet app.

Uniswap's Launch on iOS

Based on data from DefiLlama, an analytics platform for monitoring DeFi protocol performance, Uniswap is currently the largest decentralized crypto exchange in the world regarding cumulative volume. It was said to have processed more than $1.7 trillion of trades since its establishment.

Later on, Uniswap made its way to iOS and was activated on Apr. 13. It became popular at once, and less than a month after its launch, it already secured a spot in the top 3 wallets for new downloads on the App Store.

Android Wallet on Google Play

Since millions of people use mobile devices running on the Android OS, Uniswap is also bringing its wallet app to Google Play. The beta version allows users to choose coins on different chains without switching networks, which was the normal process. It can be used on Polygon, Base, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Optimism, and more compatibility are coming in the future.

"We are excited to bring Uniswap to everyone's pocket with the release of Uniswap on Android. Uniswap first launched on iOS in April and in less than a month became a top 3 wallet for new downloads," Uniswap Labs wrote in a blog post. "Now, we are bringing a simpler and safer way to swap on the go to Android users."

The company added, "The Uniswap wallet is thoughtfully built for the perfect swap: discovering top tokens, automatically switching between Mainnet and L2s, and swapping in a fraction of a second. We have doubled down on what we think makes a great swap and shipped updates every other week to make swapping faster and added more tokens and chains to swap on."
