September is going to be a very hectic month for Android fans, considering the list of upcoming phones expected to launch during the month. Reports now have it that the Vivo X70 series will be one of the first to be announced as the company gears up for a launch event next week.
Vivo X70 release date
Well-known leaker Mukul Sharma, also known as stufflistings, has shared a teaser image for the event. The image indicates that the Vivo X70 launch will take place on Thursday, Sept. 9. In another image shared by Rudhra Nandu, the Vivo X70 event is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. in China or Sept. 9, at 4:30 a.m. PT / 7:30 a.m. ET.

The details in the invitation are written in Chinese, so it is unclear if Vivo will accommodate tech fans outside from other parts of the world through live streams. Meanwhile, the exact retail launch date for the Vivo X70 phones should be announced at the event. There might be a short gap between the unveiling and the start of sales, so the phones might be available later than Sept. 9.
While the launch event appears to be touted toward Chinese customers, the Vivo X70 is likely to be shipped to regions outside China. Sharma previously reported that the Vivo X70 Pro+ has received certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Vivo X70 design, specs
Last week, the Vivo X70 Pro+ made headlines after its alleged leaked renders appeared online, which led to speculations that the device may have a secondary screen. However, new leaks that surfaced on Monday suggest that is not the case.

Images from reliable sources OnLeaks and Digital Chat Station suggest the space adjacent to the large camera bump is just a reflective surface with the logos of Vivo and Zeiss. Meanwhile, a supposed live photo of the Vivo X70 Pro also surfaced this week. Both devices have the same number of rear-facing cameras, but the Vivo X70 Pro does not have the mirror-like surface that the Pro+ has.
There are still contradicting reports on the technical specifications for the smartphone series. But the Vivo X70 Pro and Vivo X70 Pro+ have both been spotted on the Google Play Console lineup.
The Vivo X70 Pro is listed with MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200, 8GB RAM, Android 11, and a 1080 x 2376 screen. Meanwhile, the Vivo X70 Pro+ appears to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888, the same RAM capacity, and a tad higher screen resolution of 1080 x 2400.
