Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Gujarat Energy Limited signed a 10-year deal for up to four million tonnes of liquefied natural gas for India, with deliveries starting in 2028.
Gujarat Energy said in its Nov. 6 press release that the contract covers up to four million tonnes over its full term. The company’s regulatory filing names ADNOC Trading Limited as the counterparty and lists procurement at 0.4 million tonnes per year. The filing links pricing to the Henry Hub index but does not give a total contract value or a detailed pricing formula.
ADNOC said the LNG will come from XRG, its international investment company, and will be produced outside the Gulf. It described the agreement as the first sale from XRG’s international gas portfolio and its fifth LNG supply agreement in India. The companies did not name the producing project or country.
ADNOC said its global LNG marketing and trading platform launched at Abu Dhabi Global Market in July 2026. The platform is intended to connect supply from XRG’s international portfolio with demand in India, according to ADNOC. It also has agreements with INPEX in Japan and Gulf Group in Thailand. The platform targets 47 million tonnes per year of marketable LNG beyond 2030, a goal ADNOC has discussed alongside its broader LNG expansion.
Gujarat Energy says its city gas network spans 44 districts across six states and that it has regasification infrastructure. The company said the agreement is meant to improve energy security for its customers and India. Managing Director Avantika Singh Aulakh said natural gas is central to India’s shift toward cleaner energy.
