ASELSAN is presenting its MERCAN 100 submarine optronic mast system at EURONAVAL 2026 in Paris, putting imaging and ranging equipment for maritime surveillance on display. The Turkish defense company announced the presentation Nov. 3.
ASELSAN’s product materials list midwave infrared (MWIR), shortwave infrared (SWIR) and DAYTV cameras. They also specify laser and optical range-finding, a Quick Look Round (QLR) mode and a sectoral scanning mode, with an option to integrate the system with combat management systems.
Anadolu Agency reported Nov. 5 that the mast provides panoramic surveillance across 360 degrees. It said crews can use sectoral scanning to focus on a chosen area for observation, potential-target detection, tracking and positioning. Anadolu said the mast is intended to help crews recognize and track targets in challenging sea conditions.
An ASELSAN brochure dated January 2025 featured MERCAN 100. Naval News reported in March 2025 that ASELSAN displayed the system at UDT 2025 in Oslo.
