Russian activist Adele Shoko said settlers attacked her group in Umm al-Khair; she also said Israeli forces took a U.S. journalist away and authorities detained another colleague.

Shoko identified them as journalist Jasper Nathaniel and Israeli-Russian activist Andrey X. In posts on X, she said the settlers threatened the group and took equipment and personal items. She said she and Nathaniel were beaten, and that Nathaniel was pepper-sprayed before Israeli forces took him away.

Shoko said Andrey X sustained a concussion and repeatedly lost consciousness. She said he was put in an ambulance, then taken to a police station instead of a hospital, and held without medical care.

Al Jazeera reported that videos Shoko posted appeared to show several men, some armed, striking Nathaniel and Andrey X, and authorities later escorting Nathaniel away as he called out that he had been attacked.

Al Jazeera also reported that masked Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian olive farmers near Abu Falah on Oct. 16. The outlet said Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was beaten and robbed while covering the incident and was hospitalized. Levine has said she plans to return to work after the assault.
