Runway work restored normal service at Aden International Airport on Thursday, a day after an attack forced a temporary halt to flights, Yemen’s Transport Ministry said.

Transport Minister Mohsen Haidara Al-Omari said technical teams carried out urgent maintenance on the targeted runway before service resumed.

Yemeni authorities blamed the Houthis for the Oct. 28 attack and said two ballistic missiles damaged the airport and injured two civilians.

Anadolu Agency reported eyewitness accounts of a missile landing at adjacent Al-Nasr Camp. Anadolu placed the attack within a wider military escalation that began in July, which it described as the most significant since the relative calm following the April 2022 truce.

A separate Oct. 16 incident also disrupted civilian air travel. Yemen’s Transport Ministry said missiles landed around Aden airport and a Cairo-bound Yemenia flight was evacuated. EconoTimes previously reported the threat to a medical travel route.

EconoTimes also covered the airport’s reopening after the Oct. 28 attacks.
