Agile Robots CEO Sees 1,000 to 2,000 Compact Humanoids in 2027

Chen told Reuters production is expected to start by the end of 2026. Agile ONE SN is scheduled for early 2027 availability; Reuters did not report how the output estimate splits by model.

Agile Robots SE CEO Zhaopeng Chen told Reuters he expects production of 1,000 to 2,000 compact humanoid robots in 2027, as the German company prepares a research model for laboratories. The figure is a reported forecast, not a disclosed order total or completed production run.

Chen said production of Agile ONE S and Agile ONE SN is expected to begin by the end of 2026. Reuters' English-language report did not specify how the 2027 estimate divides by model. The companies' product announcements did not give a production volume or identify customer contracts.

Agile Robots unveiled Agile ONE SN at Nvidia's GTC Berlin conference on Oct. 21. The research robot stands 1.4 meters tall and combines Agile Robots hardware with Nvidia's Jetson Thor computer and Isaac GR00T software. The companies have scheduled the Nvidia-equipped Agile ONE SN research platform for availability in early 2027.

Agile Robots lists 31 degrees of freedom in the robot's body and 20 in each five-finger hand, with a payload of up to 3 kilograms per arm. The company describes SN as a research and development model, while its larger Agile ONE humanoid is designed for industrial use. Agile Robots says skills developed with the compact robot could later be transferred to the larger model.

Agile Robots says research teams often need to connect separate hardware and software for data collection, simulation, training and deployment. It presents the configured robot as a way to bring those tasks together, letting labs develop skills in simulation and test them on a physical machine. Nvidia says the integrated system could reduce researchers’ integration time from weeks to days.

Agile Robots and Nvidia said Stanford University and ETH Zurich had expressed interest in SN. Neither institution was identified as a buyer, and the companies did not announce a price or customer contract. The reported production start by the end of 2026 is the next milestone, followed by planned SN availability in early 2027.
