Anthropic said tighter restrictions on customers who violate its product rules could weigh on revenue growth, after those accounts represented an estimated 5% to 7% of revenue during the first nine months of 2026.

The estimate appears in the S-1 Anthropic filed with the SEC on Monday. It covers revenue recorded while the company provided services before it limited or ended the accounts’ access. The filing does not identify the customers.

Anthropic said it expanded its systems for spotting violations and applying restrictions during August and September, and expects the share tied to those accounts to shrink. The estimate may change as monitoring improves and the company uncovers activity it had not previously detected.

The company cautioned that identifying breaches and responding can take time. Some users could get around safeguards or return through replacement accounts, allowing related revenue to continue or reappear even as enforcement tightens.

Anthropic records revenue as it provides services, so sales may be recognized before a violation is detected and access is cut. The company described this gap between service delivery and enforcement as common across the industry.

Anthropic warned that the effort could reduce revenue and revenue growth in coming periods and make results less predictable. It said the timing and scale of any financial effect remain uncertain. Customers may lose access, while the filing identified no beneficiary of the restrictions.
