A reliable leaker reiterates the report that the highly anticipated Apple AirTags is still slated to launch in March. It might not be the only hardware product to be announced next month as the new iPad Pro tablets are also expected to be unveiled soon.
Will there be an Apple event in March 2021?
In a good year, Apple usually holds its first product launch event within March. This obviously did not happen in 2020 because it was the same month when the COVID-19 pandemic started. Even if Apple had the second-generation iPhone SE to announce, March 2020 turned out to be an uneventful one.
However, March 2021 is shaping up to be much different. While Apple is still unlikely to hold an event with in-person attendance, the list of rumored devices that it could announce next month calls for, at least, a virtual presentation.
Officially, however, Apple has not yet released an invitation or teaser like it did last September and October. If the company were to conduct a virtual product launch in March, invites could be sent out in the coming weeks.
Apple AirTags: Is it finally launching next month?
The Apple AirTags is one of the most anticipated devices to be announced this year because it has been discussed in the rumor mill for several months. Earlier reports have claimed that Apple’s ultra wideband-equipped trackers have been ready for its retail launch since last year, but the company decided to hold off its announcement reportedly due to the pandemic.
Prolific Apple leaker Jon Prosser, who has been the source of most details about the AirTags, told his Twitter followers that the tracking device is “still on for March.” Another delay cannot be definitively ruled out yet, but Prosser said he has not heard about any postponement at this point.
iPad Pro 2021: What to expect
In the same thread, Prosser also shared that the new iPad Pro tablets could also be announced in March. This is a plausible timeline for Apple to pursue since the latest version of iPad Pro devices was released last March.
However, given that it would only be a year since the last models were introduced, there are not many upgrades expected on this year’s iPad Pro lineup. So far, leaks have only mentioned a few changes in the design. But the upcoming tablets, or at least the 12.9-inch variant, are expected to debut with a mini-LED panel.
