Apple will open its first company-run retail store in Mumbai, in the resumption of its 2021 plans for the launch of an offline retail store in India that was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic
The Cupertino, California-based company launched an online retail store in India in 2020.
With around 700 million smartphone users, India is the second-largest smartphone market in the world.
Foxconn and Wistron Corp., two Taiwanese contract electronics manufacturers, construct some items from Apple's catalog, including iPhones, in India.
According to the India Cellular and Electronics Association, about $9 billion worth of cell phones were exported from India between April 2022 and February of this year, with iPhones making up more than half of that total.
Apple also plans to assemble iPads and AirPods in India.
