SUGAR LAND, Texas, Oct. 16, 2017 -- Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (NASDAQ:AAOI), a leading provider of fiber-optic access network products for the internet data center, cable broadband, fiber-to-the-home and telecom markets, will be showcasing its 2x2 Remote PHY Device (RPD) solution at the SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo taking place on October 17-20, in Denver, Colorado at booth #1480.
“AOI’s innovative FPGA-based RPD design, working in collaboration with the Intel Programmable Solutions Group, has enabled AOI to become a leader in the Remote PHY space,” says Michael Jones, Applied Optoelectronics, Inc.’s senior R&D director. “Thanks to a flexible RPD platform architecture, AOI has successfully evolved its design to meet multiple HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coaxial) market requirements, including early demonstrations of full duplex DOCSIS.”
“AOI has been an early adopter of our Remote PHY system-on-chip (SoC) and has supported us with its proven engineering expertise as we target the rapidly transforming cable broadband market with a programmable RPD solution,” said Mike Fitton, director for the cable access business, Intel Programmable Solutions Group.
AOI will showcase a live demonstration of its latest Remote PHY solution that is compliant with CableLabs OpenRPD standard. Simulating a HFC network, AOI’s RPD will be connecting to a cable modem termination system (CMTS) via AOI’s own 10G SFP+ transceiver to display both downstream and upstream performance to the cable modem.
