Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said agentic finance remains at an early stage, while describing it as a major focus that may influence how financial services develop.

The Coinbase service gives account holders a way to define what an authorized agent may do, including trading and making payments.

Armstrong has also highlighted agent trading for perpetual contracts, using a customer-selected language model. A customer can select a model, give trading instructions to an agent and have it place a perpetual-contract order on Coinbase. The example extends agent use into crypto derivatives, while the account controls also cover payments.
