‘Arrow’ season 5 may see the total end of Oliver and Felicity’s relationship. Emily Bett Rickards, who plays Felicity, teased that a new love interest for her character will be introduced early in the incoming season. Meanwhile, Colton Haynes was spotted on the Vancouver filming set just recently.
According to Comic Book Movie, the incoming season of ‘Arrow’ may signal the complete end of Oliver and Felicity’s relationship as Felicity will be getting a new boyfriend. During an interview with TV Line at the San Diego Comic-Con, Rickards addressed the rumors saying, "It is a true rumor. She steps into it pretty hard, right off the bat. You'll meet him pretty quickly."
Co-star Stephen Amell joked, “We meet him in episode 1, he dies in act 4… He got shot with an arrow in the head? Don’t look at me!”
The preceding season saw Felicity breaking up with Oliver over his secrets. She realized that she couldn’t trust a man, let alone marry him, if he continued to keep secrets from her.
Amell returns to season 5 as Oliver Queen a.k.a. the Arrow, a young billionaire playboy who turns to a life of crime fighting as a hooded vigilante. Rickards is also set to reprise her role as Felicity Smoak a.k.a. Overwatch, a Queen Consolidated IT technician recruited into Oliver’s Team Arrow. She is Oliver’s friend and confidante.
By the third season, Oliver and Felicity admitted their feelings for each other and formed a relationship in season 4. The two characters eventually got engaged.
In addition to a possible new love interest for Felicity, brand new characters will be joining the popular television series. Season 5 will feature new villains as well as new recruits for Team Arrow. A four-season crossover with other The CW television shows was also announced.
Meanwhile, Colton Haynes was spotted on the series’ filming set in Vancouver. According to Comicbook.com, Echo Kellum posted a series of photographs of Haynes on his Snapchat account. Kellum plays recurring character Curtis Holt, who is set to become series regular on season 5.
Haynes departed the series in 2015. He played the recurring character Roy Harper a.k.a. Arsenal in seasons 2 and 3. It remains unknown whether he will be returning for another run on ‘Arrow’ or if he was just in town visiting former cast mates.
The 28-year old actor is also known for his work on MTV’s supernatural drama series ‘Teen Wolf’. He also appeared on the 2015 film ‘San Andreas’ as well as in television series such as ‘The Gates’ and ‘Look: The Series’. He was also cast in season 2 of ‘Scream Queens’ together with Taylor Lautner and John Stamos.
‘Arrow’ is an action-drama television series based on the DC comic book character of the same name. It was developed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kresiberg for The CW. Season 5 is scheduled to premiere on October 5, 2016.
