The Associated Press projected Sen. Jon Ossoff, a Democrat, to win a second term in Georgia, preserving the party’s Senate seat as control of the chamber remains contested.
The U.S. Senate’s party division lists 53 Republicans, 45 Democrats and two independents. From a 53-47 balance, Democrats need four net seat gains to take a majority. Ossoff faced Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Collins.
Al Jazeera reported that Ossoff emphasized affordability, health care and government oversight during the campaign. The outlet said Collins highlighted President Donald Trump’s agenda, stricter immigration enforcement and reducing the federal government’s role.
EconoTimes previously covered a CBS News projection in the race.
The Associated Press call is a projection, not a certified result. Georgia’s Secretary of State lists Nov. 20, 2026, as the deadline to certify statewide results.
