‘Awkward’ episode 23 may be delving deeper into Matt and Jenna’s turbulent relationship after reuniting in the preceding episode “Home Again, Home Again.” Meanwhile, Tamara struggles over her poor financial situation.
According to Hollywood Hills, the episode 23 trailer showed Jenna (Ashley Rickards) all excited to head to SCU to her mother’s surprise. Lacey (Nikki DeLoach) then urges Matty (Beau Mirchoff) to express his love for Jenna before it’s too late and she ends up running back to Luke. Meanwhile, Jenna’s best friend Tamara (Jillian Rose Reed) admits her dire financial situation and proceeds to panic.
The preceding episode “Home Again, Home Again” followed Jenna’s reunion with Matty at Camp Pookah following a huge fight with boyfriend Luke, according to International Business Times. Matty opened up about his personal problems to which Jenna revealed her own challenges regarding Luke. To make things worse, Luke’s hunt for Jenna lead him to find the two ex-lovers together.
It remains unknown if Jenna and Matt would somehow rekindle their on again-off again relationship. According to an article on Just Jared, Mirchoff remained cryptic with regards to the status of Jenna and Matt’s romance.
Mirchoff said, “I had a high school sweetheart, I’m sure many of us have. You really want it to work, and it seems so important at the time, but I think it’s more important for people to really experience things in life, other people… If you come back to each other, that’s great, but there’s a lot out there.”
‘Awkward’ is an American teen comedy television series from MTV. It stars Ashley Rickards as the main protagonist Jenna Hamilton. The series’ first season received mostly positive reviews from critics and earned Rickards a nomination for Best Comedy Actress on the Critics’ Choice Television Awards back in 2012.
Awkward Season 5 Episode 23 is scheduled to air on May 24, 2016 on MTV.
