Winter is Here! Brace yourself for your best winter yet. Ski Banff Sunshine Village.
BANFF, Alberta, Nov. 07, 2017 -- Banff Sunshine Village, Alberta’s leading ski resort, is set to open its mountain terrain for skiers and snowboarders on Wednesday, November 8th, 2017. Two days ahead of schedule.
For opening day, Banff Sunshine will be running four chairs which service 25 runs. The ski lifts to open include Strawberry, Wawa, Jackrabbit, Wolverine, two magic carpets, and of course the Sunshine Gondola. Thanks to cooler temperatures and a solid snow base of 51 cm, winter recreation in the Canadian Rockies is off to a promising start. The 2017-18 ski and snowboard season is setting up beautifully.
“After a hot and dry summer, our team couldn’t be more excited for winter,” says Dave Riley, Chief Operating officer at Banff Sunshine. “Over the past few weeks our team has been working diligently to prepare the resort for winter. We’re thrilled to be opening four lifts, a terrain park, and 25 runs this early in the season.”
With the operation of 4 lifts, Banff Sunshine Village will have the most extensive variety of terrain for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy. To complement the terrain opening, Banff Sunshine’s ski school, Rental Shop, Trapper’s, Creekside, Alpine Grill, Lookout Lounge, and Sunshine Sports will open on Wednesday.
On Friday, November 10th, Sunshine Mountain Lodge will open for the season. Sunshine Mountain Lodge is Banff’s only slope-side accommodation.
The resort advises skiers and snowboarders to employ caution, as early season hazards may exist around the resort. To follow our early season progress, follow us on Facebook and check out our webcams.
