A $63 billion financing announced Monday, Oct. 26, will fund Broadcom equipment for Anthropic, linking major banks and Blackstone to the AI company’s expansion of compute capacity and long-term lease commitments.

A newly formed special purpose vehicle (SPV) will buy Broadcom XPU AI accelerators and networking solutions, then lease the equipment to Anthropic. Bank of America, Citi and Morgan Stanley will arrange first-lien financing; Blackstone will provide the committed portion of a second-lien tranche. The announcement does not break down the $63 billion among the financing pieces.

Broadcom will provide residual-value backing for the SPV, with the amount pegged to the first-lien financing. The announcement does not disclose that tranche’s size or the dollar value of the support.

Anthropic’s Oct. 26 S-1 filing puts rent for a five-year Broadcom equipment lease at about $125.2 billion, excluding interest. The company says payments generally fall due quarterly once the equipment is ready for service. The lease cannot be canceled during its term except in a default situation. The filing does not explain how the rent total relates to the $63 billion financing.

The filing describes Anthropic’s compute commitments as fixed obligations that may require payment even when capacity goes unused. It also says revenue growth is needed to meet those commitments. Anthropic reported in April that customer demand had accelerated in 2026 and its run-rate revenue had topped $30 billion, compared with about $9 billion at the end of 2025.

The transaction is part of an earlier Broadcom compute-capacity agreement. Broadcom’s April filing described Anthropic’s access to roughly 3.5 gigawatts of next-generation TPU-based computing power through Broadcom beginning in 2027, dependent on continued commercial success.

Blackstone President and COO Jon Gray said rising AI demand creates an “opportunity to finance compute capacity at scale.” Bloomberg reported Oct. 2 that banks were assembling a $60 billion financing effort for Anthropic and other companies; EconoTimes previously covered the reported financing push.

Deliveries under the new arrangement are expected to begin in calendar 2027.
