Mustafa Barghouti, secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative, said most Palestinian farmers were prevented from reaching their land to harvest olives as West Bank restrictions severely paralyzed economic activity, education and health services, Anadolu Agency reported.

Barghouti said the territory has more than 1,300 military checkpoints, with most shut. He described the network as fragmenting movement between Palestinian communities.

He also cited army raids, arrests and home demolitions. Barghouti said settler-group attacks continued in West Bank towns, villages and cities, and accused the Israeli occupation of using those groups to push settlement-building forward.

He alleged the policy sought to push Palestinians out of wide areas and promote annexation, Judaization and displacement. Barghouti urged the international community to impose sanctions and a boycott on the occupation and settlement system, including the Israeli government.

The remarks came during the olive harvest. United Nations experts have separately warned about violence and access risks facing harvesters, as described in the experts' warning about olive-harvest risks.
