CINCINNATI, April 25, 2017 -- Belterra Park Gaming has planned Cincinnati’s Derby Week, May 2 – 6, to celebrate the running of the 143rd Kentucky Derby. Events include commemorative giveaways, gaming promotions and wagering opportunities for the Kentucky Oaks, May 5, and the Kentucky Derby, May 6. Live music, a fireworks show and Belterra Park’s annual hat contest round out the festivities detailed as follows:
The Kentucky Oaks – May 5
Belterra Park will begin accepting bets at its outdoor wagering windows at 10 a.m. for the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby. Guests may also purchase tickets for special access the River Downs Club (Racebook). Post time for Belterra Park’s live racing is 1:20 p.m. Belterra will show the running of the Kentucky Oaks at approximately 5:45 p.m. Cincinnati’s own River City Band will perform from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. followed by a fireworks show presented by Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks. The celebration is free to the public and open to all ages. Guests are encouraged to park in the racing parking lot on the east side of the property.

The Kentucky Derby – May 6
Belterra Park will begin accepting bets at its outdoor wagering windows at 8 a.m. for the Kentucky Derby. Guests may purchase tickets for seats in the River Downs Club (Racebook) at Belterra Park, special seating in the grandstand and exclusive beer garden. For tickets and information visit belterrapark.com. Guests are encouraged to wear their Derby-best, from seersucker to salmon shorts to sundresses with fancy fascinators.
Guests who wish to enter the annual Derby hat contest may register from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. near the grandstand. Entries will be judged via social media and a crowd-sourced voting system. Winners will be announced after 5 p.m. at the end of live racing.
Schedule of Events:
10:30 a.m. – Churchill Downs first race post time
12:50 p.m. – National Anthem
1 p.m. – Dixie Band will play
1:10 p.m. – Bugler for first race and between races
1:20 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. – live races at Belterra Park Gaming
5 p.m. – Derby hat contest winners announced (approximate time)
6:45 p.m. – Showing of the 143rd Kentucky Derby (approximate time)
