Exemplar Luxury Group (ELG) announced Oct. 29 that Lanessa Elrod will become Bergdorf Goodman’s president Nov. 2, as the retailer marks its 125th anniversary year.
ELG describes its portfolio as including Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. Elrod will also join the group’s management team. The company linked her appointment to plans to improve the customer experience and strengthen Bergdorf Goodman’s position in the luxury market.
Tracy Margolies, the retailer’s current president, will move to an executive adviser role at ELG and report to CEO Geoffroy van Raemdonck. The announcement did not specify when Margolies’ transition will take effect.
ELG described Elrod’s Louis Vuitton Americas position as her most recent role, saying she led the region as president and CEO, with responsibility for the U.S., Canada and Latin America. Earlier in her career, she worked in merchandising at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, the company said.
WWD reported in May 2024 that Megan Grant would take over as president and CEO of Louis Vuitton Americas from Elrod, effective June 3, 2024. ELG did not say what role Elrod held after the handover reported by WWD.
The retailer says it dates its New York history to 1901 and is marking its 125th anniversary in 2026. Elrod said Bergdorf Goodman played a defining role in her career. She is due to take up the post Nov. 2.
