“Better Call Saul” season 5 will soon be returning after its filming has been confirmed to have wrapped up in September. It is in post-production. Thus fans can expect the announcement for its premiere soon.

Now, “Better Call Saul’ season 5 is really anticipated because at this time, Jimmy McGill is slowly changing, and his full transformation is said to take place in this installment. With the protagonist turning into Saul Goodman, a wicked guy, it means that the show is also catching up with “Breaking Bad” as well.

What does it mean when “Better Call Saul” catching up with “Breaking Bad?”

This Bod Odenkirk drama is a spinoff of “Breaking Bad” that ended six years ago. Since “Better Call Saul” season 5 is catching up, it means that the story already reached the timeline of events in the “Breaking Bad” narrative.

Viewers are actually waiting for this to happen so that they will see the crossover between the two drama series. They want this to happen because they are hoping to see Walt (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse (Aaron Paul) again. It has been a long time since these characters were seen, and the viewers want them back even for just a brief time via the crossover in “Better Call Saul” season 5.

The show’s executive producer, Vince Gilligan, is aware of what the viewers want so they may fulfill their wish. In his interview with TV Insider, he said, "We'd be sorely remiss if these characters didn't appear on the show before it ended."

Is this the finale?

There are reports that “Better Call Saul” season 5 would be the last chapter in the series. It was said that from the start, the producers already relayed their thoughts that they would like to end the drama in the fifth installment.

The reason for this is that they do not want to surpass the number of seasons that the drama from where “Better Call Saul” was based on. “Breaking Bad” only aired until the fifth chapter, so there is a possibility that this is already the last run, although there is no announcement about it yet.

Release date

“Better Call Saul” season 5 was originally set to premiere months ago, but it was delayed. As per the announcement of AMC President Sarah Barnett, the show will return in 2020 instead.
