Former President Bill Clinton campaigned with Democratic gubernatorial nominee David Jolly in Florida on Oct. 20 as the Democratic Governors Association announced $1 million in support ahead of the Nov. 3 election.
Clinton urged voters at an interfaith event in Hollywood to “give David Jolly a chance.” Jolly, a former Republican congressman, faces Republican U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds for the governorship.
Jolly had sought national financial support and argued that he could make Florida competitive again for Democrats, The Associated Press reported. The governors association announced its support two weeks before the election.
Donalds campaigned separately in Westchester on Oct. 20. He told supporters his campaign stood for family values and “common sense,” according to CBS Miami.
At a separate stop in Orlando, Jolly identified housing, health care and education as campaign priorities and expressed opposition to data centers, CBS Miami reported.
Florida has not elected a Democratic governor since 1994. The Florida Department of State lists Nov. 3 as the date of the general election.
