Binance US is reportedly seeking to raise up to $100 million in fresh funding at a valuation of approximately $1 billion as the cryptocurrency exchange looks to strengthen its position in the competitive U.S. market.
According to an October 15 Bloomberg report, the American affiliate of Binance plans to use the potential investment to expand its operations and compete more effectively with major trading platforms, including Coinbase, Kraken, Robinhood, and Gemini.
The proposed fundraising round comes as Binance US explores new business opportunities, including prediction markets, additional liquidity sources, and broader access to customers across the United States.
However, World Liberty Financial, the cryptocurrency venture backed by President Donald Trump, has reportedly decided against participating in the funding round despite maintaining business connections with Binance.
The relationship between the companies has attracted attention because Binance holds a substantial portion of World Liberty Financial's USD1 stablecoin supply. The global exchange has also introduced promotional campaigns involving the digital asset.
Additionally, Abu Dhabi state-backed investment firm MGX used USD1 to complete a $2 billion investment in Binance's international business in 2025, highlighting the stablecoin's growing role in major cryptocurrency transactions.
The latest fundraising target represents a significant decline from Binance US's previous valuation. In 2022, the exchange secured $200 million in financing at a pre-money valuation of $4.5 billion.
Its market position subsequently weakened following regulatory challenges, including Binance's multibillion-dollar settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice over anti-money laundering violations.
As part of its recovery strategy, Binance US is reportedly considering entering the rapidly expanding prediction markets sector. The company is also working toward restoring money transmitter licenses in certain states to broaden its operational reach.
Another potential initiative involves accessing external liquidity providers, potentially including Binance's global platform, to improve trading conditions and market depth.
Meanwhile, regulatory uncertainty remains a concern. The Justice Department is reportedly examining Binance's compliance with obligations established under its 2023 settlement agreement.
Those requirements included strengthening anti-money laundering controls and implementing independent compliance oversight.
Despite these challenges, the proposed $100 million capital raise signals Binance US's intention to rebuild its market presence, diversify its services, and pursue growth opportunities within the American cryptocurrency industry.
