Bitcoin’s USD-margined futures snapshot on Oct. 18 showed a retreat in the share of top-trader accounts holding long positions even as the share of long positions expanded, giving two different readings of exposure.
Coinglass data put Bitcoin’s account share at 63.17%, down 1.44 percentage points from the previous reading. Its position share was 64.04%, up 0.55 percentage points. The account measure counts accounts positioned long, while the position measure reflects the share of futures positions on the long side.
Ether (ETH) also showed opposite moves: its account share rose 0.36 percentage points to 69.01%, while its position share fell 1.41 percentage points to 61.27%. Solana (SOL) edged up 0.01 percentage points to 73.53% in the account measure, but its position share dropped 1.40 percentage points to 68.52%.
XRP’s account share declined 0.68 percentage points to 77.37%, while its position share gained 0.29 percentage points to 67.15%. Dogecoin (DOGE) fell in both measures: its account share slipped 0.03 percentage points to 76.58%, and its position share decreased 0.35 percentage points to 76.30%.
The readings cover top traders in USD-margined futures. Some traders may hold futures positions to balance exposure elsewhere, as earlier EconoTimes coverage noted.
