Is Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto Australian? That appears to be so after a couple of high-profile tech news sites outed the supposedly cryptocurrency creator. One of the news sites, WIRED, said it has evidence to prove that Craig Steven Wright might be the Bitcoin creator everyone, including law enforcement, was looking for.
Hours after articles about the Bitcoin creator’s supposed identity has been published, NBC notes that Wright’s home was raided by Australian police. A statement from the Australian Federal Police, however, disputed the speculation that the raid was in relation to Wright’s secret identity. According to the statement, the raid was related to a tax investigation involving Wright.
Jeremy Wagstaff for Reuters said that should Wright admit that he is Satoshi Nakamoto, he would need to provide evidence that he indeed is the Bitcoin creator.
“That could be done by announcing he would move some of the bitcoin believed to belong to him, and then doing so, or signing a message with one of the encryption keys used in emails known to have been written by Nakamoto when bitcoin first appeared,” Wagstaff wrote.
