Bitcoin (BTC) mining difficulty rose on Oct. 29 as a weekly estimate put miners’ daily gross revenue per unit of computing capacity 14.2% below its Oct. 9 reading.

For the week through Nov. 2, the estimate valued daily gross revenue at $33,095 for each exahash per second (EH/s) of mining capacity. The comparable figure for the week through Oct. 9 was $38,552.

Model inputs include a 3.125 BTC subsidy for each block and an assumed 144 blocks each day. Daily BTC closing prices and the network's mean hashrate over the previous seven days also feed the estimate. On Nov. 2, a separate measure put hashprice at $33.10 a day per petahash per second, equal to roughly $33,100 daily for each EH/s. Hashprice converts block rewards from subsidies and transaction fees into gross daily revenue per unit of computing capacity.

Bitcoin’s difficulty setting climbed 5.54% to 148.36 trillion at block 973,728. The increase raises the computing work miners face when producing blocks. The protocol retunes difficulty at 2,016-block intervals to hold the average pace near one block every 10 minutes.

The Oct. 29 setting was about 11.8% above the level on Sept. 19, but around 4.9% below the 155.97 trillion recorded on Oct. 29, 2025. These revenue figures are before electricity, equipment and other costs, which vary among operators. They do not show whether a specific miner is profitable, sold Bitcoin or turned off equipment.
