A possible limit on deductible expenses has put Bithumb’s prepaid-card spending under scrutiny after a South Korean tax official questioned how the costs should be classified.

Park Hae-young, deputy commissioner of the National Tax Service (NTS), said Thursday, Oct. 22, that business-promotion treatment may apply to Bithumb’s prepaid-card spending.

Park said confirmation of tax evasion would prompt a strict NTS investigation.
