Blockstream Chief Marketing Officer Peter Bain said Bitcoin (BTC) had held up near $81,000 and institutional client feedback supported his confidence, while separate comments addressed adoption work and AI-related security concerns.
In an Oct. 24 interview with Bitcoin Magazine, Bain cited Bitcoin’s resilience around $81,000 to $81,500, alongside feedback from institutional clients, as grounds for his view. He declined to give a specific price outlook for year-end or 2027. A Binance spot quote featured in EconoTimes’ Friday report on Bitcoin’s move below $81,000 put BTC at $80,911 at 6:50 p.m. ET (22:50 UTC).
Bain said Blockstream’s consulting service works with institutions weighing Bitcoin adoption. Some clients prefer a gradual process, he said, with help that can range from learning about the technology to planning systems and putting them into use.
The company’s European operations hub is in Lugano, Switzerland. Bain pointed to the country’s approach to digital-asset rules and its banking and wealth-management sectors as advantages for serving clients there.
Bain discussed cybersecurity separately from the consulting service. He said advances in AI are leading businesses to reconsider how they develop and release software and to increase security spending. Vulnerability discovery is a concern across banking, websites and Bitcoin, he said. Blockstream tests advanced AI models internally and works with others on Bitcoin network security.
On quantum computing, Bain said hardware limits place the prospect of a computer breaking Bitcoin’s cryptography decades away. Blockstream researchers are studying signature schemes and publishing technical papers, he said, while any change to Bitcoin would require agreement through the network’s consensus process. Bain also identified Blockstream as a member of the Bitcoin Security Consortium and said the industry would respond quickly if quantum computing became an imminent threat.
Bain said Liquid’s swap service resumed earlier in the week, restoring users’ ability to move Bitcoin from Liquid to the main chain. He said further upgrades and security work are still needed before the network’s recovery is complete.
