BERLIN, Oct. 24, 2017 -- Broadband World Forum 2017 -- Broadcom Limited (NASDAQ:AVGO) today announced the availability of the industry’s highest performance and highly integrated broadband CPE SoC solution. The BCM63158 combines G.fast, xDSL, and GPON into a single integrated solution, enabling telecom service providers to effectively deploy copper or fiber broadband services with a single, unified platform. By combining next-generation broadband WAN access technologies with powerful host processing and data networking, the BCM63158 solution offers service providers simplified platform management and reduced customer churn while enabling advanced services.
The BCM63158 extends Broadcom’s leadership in the CPE market and improves internet browsing speeds by using bonded 35b, bonded 106MHz G.fast, and single line 212MHz G.fast with Broadcom’s proprietary Reference Noise Cancellation (RNC). Backward compatibility to ADSL/VDSL and LR-VDSL enables service providers to strategically deploy BCM63158-based products and services ahead of infrastructure improvements while realizing the benefits of enhanced performance and security for smart home applications and modern containerized software offerings.
Built around a 1.5GHz multi-core CPU (15k DMIPS) with an additional high performance packet processing/offload engine, the BCM63158 is architected to support the high-speed demands of tri-band 802.11ax home networking with Broadcom’s BCM43684 WLAN chipset, multi-Gigabit Ethernet data rates, VoIP and network attached storage. An advanced, secure, container-based software architecture ensures an extensible solution with extended product deployment life-cycles.
“Combining both G.fast and GPON into a single device enables service providers to future proof CPE product offerings as telecom operators deploy both copper and fiber-based solutions,” said Greg Fischer, senior vice president and general manager, Broadband Carrier Access, Broadcom. “Further, the advanced processing capability of the BCM63158 enables secure, modern containerized software architectures along with the benefits of home networks supporting 802.11ax.”
The Broadcom BCM63158 family of devices is sampling today.
