Shupe’s 20-year professional career has demonstrated a commitment to innovation, creativity and collaboration that aligns with Burnham’s efforts to redefine the landscape of the department.

Shupe joins Burnham’s high caliber team of employee benefit professionals to assist in managing Burnham’s technical unit and support the risk management strategic focus. Armed with a strong analytical background, Shupe is well positioned to strengthen the department and respond to the complexity of risk management and the marketplace.

Shupe’s most recent post was at BB&T where she was a national senior consultant supporting the organization’s footprint in the ProView Resource Group strategic division. She consulted with producers current and prospective clients’ healthcare programs by developing and delivering customized strategic solutions. Her key accomplishments include: introduction of strategic concepts that transformed traditional renewal processes, streamlined and scaled procedures on programs delivery and quality control, mentored and trained underwriting associates. Before that, Shupe worked at Precept as a senior underwriting consultant where she had an integral part in shifting from a traditional process to a more strategic process. Shupe started her benefit career right out of college learning underwriting fundamentals at Cigna. While there she demonstrated her deep understanding of the business with her technical knowledge, and her leadership ability was recognized by being promoted from underwriter to senior underwriter and received the Circle of Excellence Award.

Shupe earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Business Administration/Management and Sociology from the University of California, Riverside.
