Ivorian music enthusiast Cédric Kouamé is seeking to restore vinyl records dating from Africa’s 20th century, France 24 said in its Oct. 23 Across Africa program. The segment presented his effort as a way to bring the music to contemporary listeners.

The program also revisited a railway disaster in Cameroon that killed 79 people a decade ago. France 24 said families continue to seek justice.

Another segment covered vanilla cultivation in São Tomé and Príncipe, where the program linked the crop’s distinctive qualities to the islands’ volcanic soils.
