China Central Television (CCTV) reported Tuesday that a Shenyang court sentenced Liu Shaoyong, former China Eastern Airlines chairman, to 14 years in prison after finding that he accepted more than 67.5 million yuan in bribes.

The court placed the conduct between 2002 and 2023. Its findings connected Liu's roles at China Eastern and China Southern Airlines to assistance involving companies and individuals. The matters included project contracts, route-related approvals and business opportunities, CCTV said.

CCTV also reported that Liu pleaded guilty and expressed remorse at his trial in July.
