Intermittent communications at Incheon International Airport affected 13 airlines Friday, with ticketing at three Chinese carriers effectively halted and check-in operations disrupted, The Korea Herald reported.

The airport corporation said the incident began around 3:30 p.m. ET Thursday (19:30 UTC). Eight carriers were assigned to Terminal 1, with five in Terminal 2, the corporation said.

Ticketing at three carriers — Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines — was effectively halted by 1:19 a.m. ET Friday (05:19 UTC), the airport corporation said. The Korea Herald cited media accounts of counter queues and crowding.

An airport official said delays were concentrated among airlines with suspended ticketing. The corporation's explanation centered on possible instability in ARINC's global airline network, The Korea Herald reported. An airport official said a fuller examination of the incident was planned.
