The Canton Fair said its first phase in Guangzhou featured robots for care, industrial work and household services, presenting the displays as evidence of a shift toward commercial use.

The first phase of the 140th China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, ran Oct. 15-19 under the theme “Advanced Manufacturing.” The official program listed Consumer Electronics and Information Products, alongside Industrial Automation and Intelligent Manufacturing, among its categories.

The organizer’s release described wearable health devices and continuous glucose monitoring systems for tracking indicators such as heart rate and blood glucose. It also listed wearable exoskeletons for mobility training. For home and elder care, the release named companion robots for in-home use, as well as electric nursing beds and hyperbaric oxygen chambers intended for use at home.

The release described a humanoid robot about 70 to 80 centimeters tall dancing and occasionally performing flips. It did not name the robot or its maker.

The industrial and service examples ranged from inspection units and machines for maintenance of live electrical lines to underwater propulsion devices. Reception robots, systems for façade cleaning, automated coffee kiosks, robotic lawn mowers and educational robots for home use rounded out the organizer’s list.

The fair said the exhibits reflected a move in Chinese robotics from technology development toward wider commercialization. Its release linked smart-living products to an aging market and described potential gains in health management, mobility, workplace safety and efficiency. It provided no order or deployment figures and no measured data on outcomes or costs.

The next phase, themed “Quality Home Life,” is scheduled for Oct. 23-27, followed by “Better Life” from Oct. 31 to Nov. 4.
