With Roadster production timing still uncertain, Cantor Fitzgerald kept its $485 Tesla price target and Overweight rating, expecting the sports car to contribute little to near-term profit.
At an Oct. 15 Texas presentation, the redesigned Roadster rose briefly and turned, a display Cantor viewed favorably. Tesla says cold-gas thrusters control the Rocket version in flight and that a separate suction system can hold it upside down.
Cantor identified the production ramp as a key question. It said uncertainty over how quickly Tesla can scale Roadster production could delay meaningful returns.
Tesla's U.S. site is taking Roadster reservations, and its terms say a reservation is not an order to buy the car; the final price is not confirmed. The site lists a $5,000 initial payment for Performance and Thrust, with later payments bringing the reservation totals to $50,000 and $250,000, respectively, as EconoTimes previously detailed in its coverage of the reservation terms.
Reuters reported that Tesla CEO Elon Musk identified 2028 as the target for starting Roadster production.
