In an Oct. 29 post, Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis said he had marked the official reopening of Switzerland’s diplomatic office in Pyongyang, calling it a “concrete step” toward stronger direct dialogue with North Korea.

“Dialogue remains essential for peace and stability in the region,” Cassis wrote on X.

The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) had previously scheduled Cassis to attend the reopening and hold political talks with North Korean authorities on Oct. 29-30. After the Pyongyang visit, he is scheduled to travel to Seoul for meetings with South Korean officials. The trip is set to end Oct. 31.
