A proposal for more than 6,000 homes in Toa Payoh West over the next decade would add housing near Caldecott MRT, Channel NewsAsia reported Oct. 31, alongside Singapore’s scheduled November sales round of about 7,960 flats.
The area-specific figure comes from Channel NewsAsia’s report. In March, Singapore’s Housing and Development Board (HDB) announced a broader plan for more than 10,000 homes across Toa Payoh West and Mount Pleasant combined. HDB said most would be public housing, with some private condominiums; its announcement did not break out a separate total for Toa Payoh West.
HDB outlined a 1.1-hectare neighborhood park and a mixed-use development combining homes, retail and community spaces. The agency also described a project beside Caldecott MRT with about 1,600 units across five blocks, as part of efforts to rejuvenate Toa Payoh and provide more public housing.
Channel NewsAsia reported that shops and community facilities would be grouped near the station and that most homes in the Toa Payoh West plan would be public housing, with some private housing. The outlet identified the first Build-To-Order (BTO) project under the plan as Toa Payoh Hillside and reported that it would offer about 1,600 flats in November. HDB’s March announcement supports the project’s approximate unit count and location. Channel NewsAsia described a mix of two-room Flexi flats, four-room flats, public rental flats and Community Care Apartments.
HDB said eligibility for Community Care Apartments would be lowered from age 65 to 55. The change was initially tied to the October 2026 BTO exercise, which the agency later moved to November.
HDB’s August update scheduled about 7,960 flats for the November exercise across Bedok, Geylang, Sembawang, Tengah, Toa Payoh and Yishun. The agency said the later launch gives prospective buyers more time to review their plans and apply under revised income ceilings.
