China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning invited former White House press secretary Katie Zacharia to visit China again Friday, responding to her criticism of the country’s public facilities in an interview.
Mao said China would “welcome her to visit China more often” when she had the opportunity. The Independent reported that Zacharia made the comment Thursday during an interview with podcaster Jack Posobiec. She was discussing the 2016 view that the United States’ best days had passed while China was rising, and recalled having recently been in China. “They don’t even have proper toilets,” Zacharia said.
Zacharia’s LinkedIn profile lists a position at Zhong Lun Law Firm from 2011 to 2013. The Independent also reported that, before she left the White House post, Zacharia had been expected to travel to Shenzhen with President Donald Trump in November for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. Axios reported Oct. 16, citing two senior administration officials, that Zacharia had been ousted; EconoTimes previously covered her departure from the White House post.
