South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun sought cyber and space cooperation with the European Union and defense and artificial intelligence ties with Britain at Group of 20 (G20) talks, ahead of Seoul’s 2028 chairmanship.

Cho’s office said he held separate meetings with four counterparts on Oct. 31 during the foreign ministers’ gathering in Atlanta. The discussions involved the European Union, Britain, India and Mexico. The two-day G20 meeting ran Oct. 30-31.

With Kaja Kallas, the EU’s high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, Cho urged more joint work on cyber and space issues. The Foreign Ministry said they also discussed security developments involving the Korean Peninsula and Ukraine.

Cho pressed for closer British cooperation on defense and artificial intelligence in talks with Foreign Minister Ed Miliband. Cho’s office said the two agreed to coordinate as Britain takes the G20 chair in 2027 and South Korea follows in 2028. The countries will hold the chairmanship in consecutive years.

Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Cho discussed implementation of agreements from President Lee Jae Myung’s April state visit to India, Cho’s office said.

In talks with Mexican Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco, Cho discussed a revised bilateral investment treaty. The two sides agreed to work toward putting the updated pact into effect as soon as possible, according to Cho’s office.

Across the four meetings, the agenda ranged from security and technology cooperation to carrying out agreements and revising an investment treaty. The discussions took place during Cho’s Atlanta trip for G20 talks. Before the visit, The Korea Herald reported that Cho was due to remain in Atlanta through Nov. 2 and was expected to meet U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
