Higher attendance helped lift Cineplex Inc.’s third-quarter adjusted EBITDAaL to C$70.7 million, a gain of 112.2% that made it the theater chain’s second-highest third-quarter result for the measure.
Revenue rose 26.2% to a quarterly record of C$440.2 million for the three months ended Sept. 30, 2026. Attendance increased 23.1% to 14.833 million guests. Box-office revenue climbed 35.2% to C$215.681 million.
Spending per guest also increased. Box-office revenue per patron rose 9.9% to C$14.54, while concession revenue per patron gained 3.5% to C$9.99.
Net income from continuing operations reached C$23.829 million, compared with C$1.365 million a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations were C$0.34, up from C$0.02.
Cineplex defines adjusted EBITDAaL as adjusted EBITDA less cash rent paid or payable for lease obligations. The company classifies it as a non-GAAP measure and cautions that other issuers may calculate similar measures differently. The figure increased from C$33.332 million a year earlier, outpacing the 26.2% revenue growth.
Cineplex cited a strong film slate and higher attendance as contributors to its results. Its CEO also pointed to operating leverage. The board has begun a strategic review that includes a potential sale and is intended to maximize shareholder value.
The results add detail to EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of Cineplex’s record quarterly revenue and attendance growth.
